Satan has done one heck of a job in getting many people to focus on the things of this world like their bodies, sex, material possessions, and receiving “star” treatment rather than modesty, purity, and Godliness. Should we congratulate Satan on helping us to fall farther and farther away from Christ? When we submit to the things of this world we give Satan power in our lives; over our lives. As I write this post, I ask you to consider some of the things that I've learned as it revolves around this term diva. We all know women that we characterize as divas and they’re not exactly female performers.
So, what’s the big deal, right?? I began to wonder why becoming a diva is something
that people aspire to be. In order for
me to get a deeper look, I looked up the word.
I knew that the dictionary definition wasn't going to help me much
because we have self created our own definition of this word. The dictionary defines diva as…a
usually glamorous and successful female performer or personality; a fashion diva; especially: a
popular female singer.
Ok, but in contrast, the urban dictionary gives
you a completely different meaning. A b****y woman that must have her way
exactly, or no way at all. often rude and belittles people, believes that
everyone is beneath her…
Wow! This does not sound good and Jesus in no way is glorified.

Sadly, the urban dictionary has more adequately
defined this term. The problem is not so
much as the word: diva, but more the problem that incurs to live up to this
societal standard. Remember that Christ
reminds us that we are not of this world.
“If you belonged to the world, it would love
you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the
world hates you” John
15:19
The trouble that I see is the diva mentality. This diva mentality has permeated and
filtered through lives of people much like an uncontrollable contagious
disease. The disease is rooted in pride,
selfishness, worldly desires, stubbornness, and jealousy. This mentality or disease is the same
mentality that teaches our children. Do
we want our children to grow up portraying and valuing the things of this world? I know that would not be the desire for my
one day son or daughter. And I
definitely wouldn’t want my son to marry a woman that behaves in a diva-like
fashion. Who wants to waste time in a
relationship with a girl who needs to have her way all the time or whose
self-worth is tied up in material things?
Thinking and believing that love is defined by stuff. This person is seriously flawed because of
that diva like mentality. As it stands,
the world we live in is seriously, dangerously, flawed too.
"Do not love
the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of
the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh,
the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the
world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the
will of God abides forever" (1 John 2:15-17).
Above anything else, being a diva does not align
with God’s word. Stop insulting God and
calling yourself a Christian when you behave in un-CHRIST-like ways! A Christian does not exhibit diva like
characteristics. That is not a Godly mentality,
but worldly. If being prideful, selfish,
stubborn, thinking that everyone is beneath you is not acceptable as a child of
God, then what does God value? How does
He desire for you to behave and act?
The term diva is usually reserved for women, but I
think it works for men as well because they too demand the “star” treatment
just in different ways.
